10 Life without Limits Changing Hands around the agency Have you ever wondered what to do with the durable home medical equipment or assistive technology devices you or your family no longer use? UCP’s Changing Hands equipment reuse program just may be the answer you are looking for. If you have equipment or devices that have served your purpose, but still have a lot of life left... we invite you to consider making a donation to Changing Hands. WHAT DO WE ACCEPT*? A partial listing of the types of equipment and devices we refurbish and redistribute on a regular basis includes: • manual wheelchairs • hoyer lifts • lift chairs • bath or shower seats • bath or shower benches • over bed tables • raised toilet seats • portable ramps • scooters • daily living aids (such as items for eating, dressing, etc.) • blind/low vision aids • adapted telephones • communication devices • adaptive games and toys • adaptative recreational devices • and much more! All equipment is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. All is distributed free of charge. For a more comprehensive listing of items that we accept and that are available at the current time, check out our website: www.changinghandscentralpa.org PLEASE NOTE: We are currently unable to accept power wheelchairs at this time. We cannot accept power equipment that is non-operational unless it is due to battery failure only. We also do not accept hospital beds, CPAP machines, or stair glides. If you have home medical equipment or an AT device that has served your purpose, but still has a lot of life left, please consider making a donation to Changing Hands. Pennsylvania residents of all ages who have a need for equipment, but do not have the financial means or a funding source to obtain it, are welcome to participate in the Changing Hands program. While we operate primarily in Central PA, we will accept and distribute donations to anyone throughout the state, as long as suitable arrangements can be made. Changing Hands recirculated 970 items--or $456,475 worth of equipment--back into the community over the past fiscal year.
