40 The Authority | August 2025 Water Service The water system consists of 604,000 feet of cast and 313,00 feet of ductile iron pipe, 3762 valves, 866 hydrants, three elevated tanks and two standpipes. Our system stores 4.05M gallons of water and is interconnected with North Wales Water Authority’s Forest Park Water Treatment Facility to ensure a reliable supply. We distribute an average of 2.8M gallons per day. All metering is handled through Neptune meters with AMI radio reading infrastructure, allowing for efficient and accurate billing. We use a system of 280 fixed-location acoustic Gutermann correlating loggers to detect small leaks before they escalate into major issues. To ensure full system coverage, we also deploy 12 mobile Sewerin leak detection loggers in areas not covered by the fixed units. Sewer Service WMA’s wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) directly serves 10,800 customers across Warminster Township, Ivyland Borough, and parts of Warwick Township. In addition, we provide wholesale service to Warrington Township and a portion of Northampton Township through our 8.18 MGD treatment plant. The collection system includes 765,000 feet of gravity sewer lines, 16,000 feet of force mains, and 17 pump stations. Our in-house crews completed a significant pump station upgrade in June 2025. For the past 13 consecutive years, we've rehabilitated at least 10,000 feet of sewer main annually through cured-in-place (CIP) lining and spray-lined approximately 100 manholes each year. Originally constructed in 1958, the WWTP saw a major upgrade in 1987 with the installation of the Air Products A/O process. Recent improvements include: • Trojan Signa ultraviolet disinfection system • Varec digester waste gas burner • Suspended Air Floatation (SAF) thickener for secondary sludge WMA also completed a cutting-edge biological process intensification project to improve nitrogen removal at low dissolved oxygen levels. This included installation of World Water Works Arxtera’s miGRATE™ media, inDENSE™, and AvN systems for enhanced aeration and solids retention time (SRT) control. Maintenance Through our computerized work order system, we manage the maintenance of all vehicles and equipment, completing an average of 5,900 work orders annually. Our in-house crew has upgraded the sewer pump stations with almost all having emergency backup pumps. Stormwater WMA assumed responsibility for the stormwater system from Warminster Township in April 2021. The system includes 268,000 feet of pipe, 2,130 inlets, 98 outfalls, and 15 public basins. We are co- permittees with the Township on the MS4 permit. As Bucks County’s first authority to implement a structured stormwater fee, WMA now generates $2.9 million annually to fund WMA Log College Wastewater Treatment Plant Collapsed Stormwater Inlet Fully replaced M-Top Inlet WMA Well No. 10 which has PFAS treatment, also pictures are two storage tanks
