62 The Authority │ June 5. Continuous Updating Pathways are not static. As new regulations, technologies, and risks emerge, training must evolve. A pathway system should be reviewed and adjusted regularly, not set and forgotten. The Payoff for Organizations This is not just about training. It is about performance. Organizations that adopt a pathway approach see: • stronger retention • faster onboarding of new employees • better knowledge transfer from senior staff • improved compliance and operational consistency • reduced reliance on external hiring Perhaps most importantly, they gain control over their workforce development instead of reacting to it. Continuous Education Is Not Optional The idea that employees are “trained” once and then simply maintain certification is outdated. In today’s environment, learning must be continuous and embedded in the work itself. Organizations that treat education as a compliance requirement will always be behind. Continuing education without purpose or planning just to meet a regulatory requirement rarely has any impact to your organization. If you treat it as an operational strategy, you will be better positioned to adapt, perform, and lead, and will be far less dependent on external hiring to solve internal capability gaps. Pipelines move water. Pathways build people. And right now, people are the limiting factor. S P athWays BuiLd PeoPLe .
