municipalauthorities.org | 43 By Amy Schirf, Education Coordinator, Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority At the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority, we believe in celebrating the people who make everything we do possible—our dedicated employees. Throughout the year, we look for meaningful ways to show our appreciation and let our team know just how valued they are. Each October, we gather for a Customer Appreciation Day, enjoying a delicious meal together. In December, we come together again to celebrate the holiday season with a festive lunch. And more recently, we've added a new tradition in June to recognize National Waste and Recycling Workers Week . To mark the occasion, our office staff fires up the grill and serves hot dogs and refreshing birch beer on tap to our hardworking collections and recycling teams. But we don’t believe appreciation should be limited to holidays or special events. That’s why we make it a point to celebrate our staff throughout the year. In the summer, we host an employee picnic complete with food, games, and exciting prize giveaways. We also distribute Thanksgiving turkeys and Christmas hams to show our gratitude during the holiday season. Our commitment to recognition goes beyond events. We regularly spotlight employees in our internal newsletters, communications, and on our social media platforms. It’s important to us that everyone—regardless of their role—feels like a valued part of our team. This June, as we celebrate National Waste and Recycling Workers Week, we extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of our employees. Your hard work keeps our communities clean and running smoothly, and we are grateful every day for your dedication. S Annual Celebration - Waste & Recycling Workers Week Every year, we invite the world to join us in a week long celebration recognizing the hard work and dedication shown by the men and women of the waste and recycling industry. The week of June 17 th has been designated as the annual event for all waste companies, cities, towns, and states to come together to celebrate and show appreciation for our Waste and Recycling workers. One of our goals as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is to increase the reach and impact of this celebration each year. We invite you to join the celebration and show appreciation for the waste and recycling workers in your community. Source: wasterecyclingworkersweek.org/initiatives/#celebration
