24 The Authority │ April Compiled by the PMAA Government Relations Staff G overnment R elations U pdate Legislation House Bill 1139 (Representative Perry Warren, Bucks) – This bill would require water bottle filling stations in certain Commonwealth-owned buildings. PMAA support the bill because it expands access to safe, publicly supplied drinking water, encourages the use of tap water, and reduces reliance on single-use plastic bottles. PMAA support letter 1 House Bill 1291 (Representative Robert Freeman, Northampton) – This bill would amend the legal advertising and public notice requirements. PMAA signed onto an opposition letter 2 with the Local Government Conference. House Bill 1485 (Representative Joe Ciresi, Montgomery) – This bill would amend the Emergency and Law Enforcement Personnel Death Benefits Act to expand the scope of covered personnel and clarify benefit eligibility. PMAA Support Letter 3 House Bill 1834 (Representative Robert Matzie, Beaver) – This bill directs the Public Utility Commission to establish regulations for commercial data centers. It was voted out of the House Energy Committee, as amended, on February 2 nd . House Bill 1759 (Representative Greg Scott, Montgomery) – This bill would allow a municipality to impose a penalty of no more than $500 per tire for violators caught dumping waste tires. This bill was voted out of the House Environmental and Natural Resource Protection Committee, as amended, on February 4 th . House Bill 2085 (Representative Ismail Smith-Wade-El, Lancaster) – This bill would require DEP to promulgate rules and regulations establishing requirements for public water systems with more than 100 service connections to discourage and minimize growth and potential distribution of pathogens such as Legionella bacteria. PMAA signed onto an opposition letter 4 with the PA AWWA Water Utility Council. House Bill 2146 (Representative Robert Freeman, Northampton) – This bill would amend the Sunshine Act. PMAA signed onto an opposition letter 5 with the Local Government Conference.
